Cartoon submitted by Bernard Hurlbut. Bernard Hurlbut of Rome, New York, is a Veteran of the 37th Infantry Division, Ohio Army National Guard. He was drafted during the Korean War and served between 1950 and 1953. Stationed in France during the war, he devoted many of his off hours to drawing. After the war, he moved to Upstate New York where he started a sign business that still exists today. Hurlbut said, like his love of the Guard, his passion for drawing continues to this day.
